— St. Augustine
The world's best classroom has no walls. Kūrio is TMTC's educational travel programme — built on the belief that real learning only begins when students pair books with the world outside the classrooms.
A carefully coordinated student journey through science, culture, craftsmanship, and serious fun. Start with the essentials, then explore every part of the programme.

Programme approach
More than a trip: time to prepare, a chance to learn by doing in Japan, and space to turn discoveries into something useful.
Eleven guided sessions
Eleven guided pre-trip sessions introduce students to Japan, spark questions and help them arrive ready to explore.

Active, hands-on learning
Each day brings a focus, a question or a hands-on challenge. Students try things for themselves and reflect on what they notice with their Cohort Manager.

One-day post-trip session
In a one-day post-trip session, students reflect on the journey, explore entrepreneurship and turn what they learned into practical ideas, projects or solutions they can use and share.
What could this become?
Layered Safety
GPS tracking and 4G connectivity come first. Every student wears a large, colourful Kūrio ID that is clearly readable in English and Japanese. Technology supports—but does not replace—assigned chaperones and the wider safety plan. That plan includes wellness observations, buddy groups, repeated headcounts, teacher-led movement, scheduled check-ins and clear emergency protocols.
A large, colourful bilingual student ID supports authorised group monitoring and rapid identification.
Temperature and SpO₂ observations are conducted discreetly according to trip protocols.
Every student group knows its designated teacher or authorised adult.
Students are paired or grouped to support coordinated movement and mutual awareness.
The teacher chaperone, guide and Cohort Manager each verify the student count before departure, after arrival and at planned movement points. Each adult also shares an individual venue check-in or check-out photo in the parent WhatsApp group.
Planned check-ins are completed at key stages of the day.
Students receive a daily briefing on emergency procedures, which are also shared with parents in the WhatsApp group.
Students and teachers reflect, review wellbeing and prepare for the following day.
The sample ID shown uses illustrative student and group details. No surname, passport number, date of birth, hotel address or private medical information is displayed.
Tracking depends on device status, network coverage, consent, privacy requirements and operating protocols. Wellness observations are basic indicators; they do not constitute a diagnosis or certification and never replace adult supervision.
